ABOUT ABOUT

This month's talk is being presented by:

Jean Reichle, DVM, MS, DACVR - Ultrasound of the Canine and Feline GI Tract

This lecture will utilize ultrasonographic images of normal and abnormal findings of the stomach, small and large intestine, and pancreas. Obstructions, as well as inflammatory and more common neoplastic diseases, will be covered. Some helpful tips will include which probes to use, what position to image the patient in, using intercostal approaches, etc.

Learning Objectives:

1. The main goal is to help practitioners use ultrasound to image the GI tract of their feline and canine patients with historical vomiting, diarrhea, and/or weight loss, and to discriminate normal vs abnormal.

2. An additional goal is to help practitioners determine which probes to use and why, as well as helpful tips such as when to image a patient in standing position.

3. When to consider additional tests, such as cytology.
