Medical Math: Making it All Add Up! - Melissa Hulgreen, MS, RVTg, VTS (ECC) -
What to expect:
-Whether it's a simple unit conversion or a constant rate infusion, when performing drug calculations, you need to not only be accurate, but confident in your skills.
-Math is not everyone's strong suit; however, patient safety depends heavily on a technician's ability to perform medical math every day.
-This talk will cover some common calculations such as percent dilutions and intravenous fluid additives as well as some more advanced topics, including constant rate infusions.
A little bit about our speaker:
Melissa is an RVTg and VTS, specializing in Emergency and Critical Care. She attended undergrad at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and recently earned her Master's Degree in Biomedical Science with an Emphasis in Veterinary Sciences from the University of Missouri. Melissa has been working in ECC and specialty medicine for over 10 years and has several years of experience teaching and training technicians in both academic and clinical settings. Her special interests include CPR, medical math and emergency stabilization.
