Melissa Hulgreen MS, RVTg, VTS (ECC) will deliver an exciting talk called:
Stayin Alive: CPR for Veterinary Technicians
While CPR can be intimidating and, at times, a hectic situation, it is important for any technician working in emergency and critical care to become comfortable playing an active role in the process. Drawing from the RECOVER Initiative's guidelines for cardiopulmonary resuscitation, this lecture will cover topics related to recognizing a cardiopulmonary arrest, Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS).
This talk will cover:
CPR Statistics and Outcome Expectations
Recognizing CPA (patient assessment)
BLS
ALS
After attending this lecture, technicians will have a general understanding of how to recognize the need for CPR in the cat or dog as well as the proper techniques for administering basic life support measures (chest compressions, airway support and ventilation). In addition, advanced life support measures (monitoring, emergency drugs and extreme measures) will be reviewed.
