This month's DVM Talk will feature Dr. Jaron Naiman, DACVS-SA presenting:

3D Printing in Veterinary Medicine 

This course will provide an overview of 3D printing modalities and imaging acquisition required for 3D printing in veterinary medicine. Clinical case examples will highlight the utility of this technology in small animal practice.

- Overview of additive manufacturing

- 3D printing from patient to print

- Clinical case examples

- The future of 3D printing

Participants should come away with knowledge of the types of printers available along with some of the advantages and disadvantages of each, as well as which cases may benefit from patient specific 3D printing.

A graduate of the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Naiman completed his rotating internship at Animal Specialty Group in Los Angeles, followed by a surgical residency at Iowa State University. After completion of his residency, Dr. Naiman successfully passed the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS) exam to become a Diplomate (Board Certified Surgeon) of the ACVS and he stayed on as an Assistant Professor of Small Animal Surgery at Iowa State University. He has published on laparoscopic treatment of ovarian remnant syndrome and conducted research on a variety of topics including 3D planning and printing to treat angular limb deformities, minimally invasive treatment of sacroiliac luxation, and Achilles tendon repair suture patterns.

His professional interests include 3D printing and surgical planning, orthopedic, neurologic, soft tissue, oncologic, and minimally invasive surgery.
